The Boulder Strip Hotels:

Review of Las Vegas Hotels on the Boulder Strip:

One of the best assignments I've had since we started Winning In Las Vegas was reviewing the hotels and casinos on the Boulder Strip.

The Castaways is really mid-way the between Boulder Strip and Down Town but is a property that is rich in Vegas tradition. Originally "The Showboat", it is under new management and coming back into form. The dealers were very friendly and sharp with the Craps game being well run. Minimums were $5.00 for craps and $3 blackjack while I was there. The assortment of slots was being updated but they had enough new games to keep any slot enthusiast happy.

Boulder Station is very much like any of the Station properties. Excellent food and a nicely designed casino. The games were mostly $5.00 minimum with .50 roulette while I was there. During the week, there are often $3 Black Jack Tables and .25 roulette. and $1.00 craps with 10x odds. Table Games include Let-It-Ride, Pai Gow and all of our favorites. The Slots are among the best in Vegas with 2 cent machines with "Fast Pay". The Poker room is always a great place to play. Boulder Station also offers weekly Black Jack Tournaments.

Arizona Charlie's is another popular choice with a great selection of Slots and relatively low limit table games. They don't currently have a poker room however there race and sports book gets very good reviews.

Sam's Town is one of our "Local Favorites". Every time we review the property, the dealers are consistently sharp and friendly. The property is well designed for families offering a good variety of entertainment and gaming. If I'm not enjoying a game at the Micro Brewery, then I'm sipping coffee and enjoying cheese cake by the water fall. They have over 6600 slot machines with all of the latest games with "Fast Pay". Gaming limits are among the lowest in Vegas with the highest odds at craps in town. Click here to see a 360 tour of their rooms.

Nevada Palace is another great stop on the Boulder Strip. They have a good assortment of machines and low limit table games. The 10 AM Poker Tournament is one of the best in town.

Fiesta Henderson - Formerly the reserve, they have always had one of the best buffets in Las Vegas. They are the only casino with Ricochet which combines craps and roulette - really worth seeing to believe it ... I think it may catch on. $1 Craps and $3 Black Jack. Consistently a local favorite. The buffet is the one of the best in Vegas with high marks going for their Champagne Brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The Amigo Club makes it very easy to get comps any level of play, and the online system lets you pay with your slot club card at the Buffet or at the Restaurant.

Other Local Favorites on the Boulder Strip:

The Long Horn - This is across the street from Sam's Town. Some of the best grave yard specials in a town that knows "Grave Yard Specials". Black Jack Tournament daily at noon.

Jokers Casino - A Boyd Gaming property, they offer 100x odds on craps (.50 game) with a great selection of 2 cent video slots. The band on Friday and Saturday nights is always a lot of fun which makes for a very inexpensive night out.

Sunset Station: Just read the review on Boulder Station and move it 10 miles further out of town. One advantage of Sunset Station is that there is excellent shopping across the street.
